After a nice road trip through Western Mass and the farmland and small towns of Eastern NY, arrive at the Sam and Adele Golden Foundation Artist Residency Center in New Berlin, NY. Quite a place, and the people here are fabulous.
(Note: I am writing much of this later based on notes and scattered memories because there is so much to do and see, people to meet and materials to experiment with.)
When I arrive at the property, I am greeted by Barbara Golden, Executive Director of the foundation, and soon joined by Emma Golden, Program Director and granddaughter of the founder, Sam Golden. I take a look the posted schedule on a small chalkboard in the kitchen that Emma has kindly created to see what the week ahead looks like.
I meet my fellow resident artist-educators Christina Keith, from Minnesota, and Jenna Hudock from Ohio, and we get a tour of the building after we unload.
